Computer Drop-In Session

Every Tuesday from 10am - 1pm the computer room at Haslewey Community Centre opens its doors to the "over 50s" who want to learn more about computers and computing. It runs during the school term throughout the year. No appointment is needed. To find out more and get hands-on experience just drop in.

There is no set syllabus; the aim is to help people to do what they want to do. This can be anything from writing letters to searching for information on the internet with a variety of options in between. These could include: sending e: mails, researching family history, accounting and on-line banking. Longer term projects can also be covered. For example, one person's memoirs have recently been completed and published. Another current project is the compilation of a horticultural encyclopaedia.

Help for all these different needs is given on a one-to-one basis by experienced volunteers from Age Concern Haslemere. Amazingly, there is no charge for all this help, advice and use of the desk top computers. Age Concern Haslemere does, however, ask that a small donation is made to cover some of the costs of this excellent service. There is also a nominal charge for printing and internet access.
